Casual Community Cookout Replaces Traditional Ballroom Fundraiser to Raise $30,000 for LGBTQIA+ Youth Transitional Housing Program. 

DALLAS, TX — This year, local nonprofit Dallas Hope Charities (DHC) officially marks a decade of community impact. To celebrate ten years of providing shelter, stability, and "HOPE FOR ALL," the organization is shaking up its annual signature fundraiser. Moving away from formal galas, the charity will host a vibrant, neighborhood cookout—the Legacy of Hope: Birthday BBQ Bash—at Union Coffee on Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

The event brings the Dallas community together to look forward to another decade of localized advocacy while raising critical funds toward a $30,000 goal. Attendees are encouraged to leave their formal wear at home and bring their best backyard energy.

Event Highlights Include:

• Iconic Local Eats: Every $50 ticket includes a barbecue dinner plate and iced tea from Dallas legend Sonny Bryan’s Smokehouse, alongside a celebratory slice of birthday cake from Daisy Cakes.
• Community Talent Showcase: DHC is handing the microphone over to local amateur musicians, poets, comedians, and storytellers to fill the evening with live entertainment.
• Backyard Fun: Attendees can enjoy classic backyard lawn games and exclusive, after-hours access to the Union Coffee bar for coffee and tea purchases.
• Legacy of Hope Auction: An online charity auction featuring premium local experiences and curated packages will officially open for bidding one week prior on Saturday, August 8, 2026, closing live during the event.

"A legacy of hope isn't built overnight—it is shaped year after year by neighbors, advocates, and a community dedicated to providing dignity to vulnerable young adults," said Tamika Perry, Dallas Hope Charities Chief Executive Officer. "We wanted to celebrate this 10-year milestone exactly how we built it: together as a neighborhood."

To ensure a welcoming, inclusive environment for all North Texas neighbors, this will be an alcohol-free event. All ticket purchases and auction proceeds directly support our Hope to Finally Home comprehensive program to end LGBTQIA+ youth homelessness.
